The Legion of Mary is a lay apostolic association of Catholics who serve the Church and their neighbors on a voluntary basis in about 170 countries. Members of the Legion of Mary praesidium at Saint Mary's meet each Tuesday following the morning mass. Members participate in the life of the parish through visitation of families, the sick, both in their homes and in hospitals, and through collaboration in every apostolic and missionary undertaking in the parish.
The Secular Franciscan Order was established by Saint Francis of Assissi more than 800 years ago. The purpose of the order is to bring the Gospel to life where its members live and work. Members of the order look for ways to embrace the Gospel in their lives and try to help others do likewise.
Members of the Franciscan cell at Saint Mary Catholic Church meet one Wednesday each month at the church. The meeting is after the morning mass.All women of Saint Mary Parish are members of the Parish Council of Catholic Women and are welcome at events. There are no dues. Meetings are held from May to September. We provide spiritual support to each other and our church family through our participation in church activities as well as planned fun outings we organize as a group. Details of upcoming events are posted in the bulletin.
The officers are: President - Gail BuckleySaint Mary Catholic Church believes a successful college or technical education can lead to better employment prospects and can be life-changing in scope. The Saint Mary Catholic Church Scholarship program provides funding to qualified individuals for secondary education to achieve these life benefits. The annual program awards at least two scholarships per year with a maximum of $20,000 per student per year. Application is open to any incoming freshman or returning college student as well as any incoming or returning technical school student from Meigs, Monroe, McMinn or Polk counties. Applications are accepted between January 1st and March 31st each year.
The Knights of Columbus is a global Catholic fraternal service order. Council 8396 meets at Saint Mary Catholic Church on the first Thursday night of each month. Council 8396 was founded on May 15, 1983, and it is named after one of its founding members, Lawrence R. Roussell, Sr.
