One way to glorify God is to serve Him by helping others worship Him at Mass. This is a solemn opportunity that ennobles those who serve as well as those who are served. This means that we take the time to be trained, prepared by prayer, and ready to serve in a manner that speaks to dignity of the divine proceedings.
If you are interested in one of the liturgical ministries, please submit your information using the volunteer form or contact the Parish Office at 423-745-4277.
Lectors proclaim the Word of God during Mass and on special occasions. It is important for lectors to believe that Sacred Scripture is the Word of God and have deep respect for God's presence in that Word. "Lector" may literally be "reader," but a ministerial lector does not simply read. A ministerial lector strives to read so to the Voice of the Lord is heard in the midst of His Church.
Ushers are the face of the church. They welcome parishioners and visitors to Mass, helping them to experience the hospitality of Christ. They help individuals know where they can go for various needs, assist with the collection, and provide logistical support to the priest as needed.
Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion (Eucharistic Ministers) serve by helping priests and deacons distribute Holy Communion at Mass. They also take communion to the homebound or hospitalized.
The Music Ministry helps to magnify the mystery of God's love for us in the Mass and enables us to more easily lift our hearts and minds to the eternal realm. The Music Ministry welcomes members of all levels of musical experience and expertise.
