Holy Baptism is the basis of the whole Christian life, the gateway to life in the Spirit, and the door that gives access to the other sacraments. Through Baptism we are freed from sin and reborn into the family of God.
Jesus became man to bring us into union with his Father. He said no one can enter the kingdom of God unless he is first born of "water and the Spirit" (John 3:5) - this refers to baptism. Through baptism we are born again, but this time on a spiritual level instead of a physical level. We are washed in the bath of rebirth (Titus 3:5).

Baptism Requirements
- The child’s parents must be active parishioners at St. Mary Catholic Church.
- Birth certificate of the child.
- Sponsor certificates for godparents stating they are practicing Catholics, are at least 18 years of age, and that they have been fully confirmed into the church and practice their faith.
- First time parents and Godparents must attend catechesis on the Sacrament of Baptism.
